SUBJECT: Procedures to protect and inform crew members, passengers and the general public regarding COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2)

REASON: To limit exposure and reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) which has spread globally, resulting in an ongoing pandemic.

GENERAL GUIDANCE

The purpose of this Operations Bulletin (OpsBull) is to implement procedures recommended by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) and Transport Canada (TC) to protect and inform crew members, passengers and the general public regarding COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) in an effort to minimize exposure and reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 on board aircraft or through day-to-day operational requirements.

CFC staff members, students and renters must pay close attention to their own health at all times. If staff members develop a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, immediately self-isolate and be excluded from duty, including ground training, until cleared by local public health authorities. Any staff members with a high-risk exposure to COVID-19 (defined as exposure to a sick household member, partner, or providing care in a household to a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19) will also be excluded from assigned duties until deemed no longer at risk for becoming infectious.

    1. CFC encourages all students, renters and staff members to:
      • Avoid all contact with sick people or vulnerable populations;
      • Minimize contact with the general population;
      • Use social distancing;
      • Avoid situations likely to attract large numbers of people.
    2. No new/unknown customers, ride-along, sightseeing, etc.
    3. Students and renters will only come to CFC facilities for flight or simulator session. All briefings and ground school sessions will be conducted online or by phone.
    4. No student/customer/ instructor has access to the upstairs area in CYPK.
    5. Each instructor has their small group of students. Instructors do not fly with each other's students. Students do not mingle or fly together. Instructors maintain distance.
    6. Aircraft and simulator will be sanitized before and after being used. Seal “sanitized” on each door after each sanitizing procedure.
    7. Any person showing any of the symptoms related to COVID-19 or anyone who have had a high-risk exposure to COVID-19 will not be allowed in the school premises and will be reported to the Supervising Instructor and/or CFI.
    8. The CFI will contact local health authorities immediately upon learning if any student, renter or staff members are or have been exposed to COVID-19 and are symptomatic.
